TRUE ATROCITIES

by Jonathan Lane - May 12, 2004

What more do you need?

These people hate you. Not just Americans in general - they hate you and they will kill you. They will kill your mother. They will kill your father. They will kill your brothers and sisters. They will kill your husband or wife.

Unless we stop them.

For weeks the media has bombarded us with images of abuse. A few jackass American "soldiers," taking inappropriate measures with Iraqi prisoners. These acts were mislabeled "atrocities" by the media. Now we see what an atrocity is. And it makes me sick.

I'm speaking, of course, of the beheading of Nick Berg. Nick's only crime was being an American. He wasn't in the military. He wasn't trying to hurt anyone. He was a civilian. He was there to help the Iraqi people.

So they sawed off his head with a knife, crying "God is great!"

And given the chance, they would do it to you, your mother, father, brothers, sisters and spouse.

You can accuse me of fear-mongering, but am I the one doing it? Or are the people who hacked off another human's head the real fear-mongers? Is that maybe why we call them "terrorists?"

If you have doubts about the threat to Americans, I challenge you: watch the video. Then tell me that the terrorists are the victims. Tell me that America needs to try and understand their viewpoint.

These extremist wack-jobs are not interested in talking. They don't want to convert you to Islam. They don't want to compromise with you. They want to cleanse the Earth of you!

They seek a level of genocide the likes of which we have not seen since Nazi Germany. To underestimate their threat and their hatred of you is suicide. I believe it when I hear Sean Hannity predict that "9/11 was a preview of coming attractions." They clearly want more weapons of mass destruction. They've already used them against us.

Make no mistake - four airplanes with terrorists for pilots are weapons of mass destruction. Killing 3,000 people with two weapons is mass destruction!

Every American should be grateful that we have a President who understands the hatred these people have for you. He will not apologize for who we are. He will not negotiate with terrorists, or try to appease the timid. He will do everything in his power to protect you, your mother, father, brothers, sisters and spouse.

Even Democrat and former Mayor of New York City, Ed Koch says:

"I have never voted in the past for a Republican president. ... But I am voting for George Bush this time around. And I will tell you why. He has created what is now known as the Bush Doctrine, equal to the Monroe Doctrine, and what is the Bush Doctrine? That we will go after the terrorists and the countries that harbor them. And he’s kept his commitment, unlike anybody else in the world."

You see, Mr. Koch gets it. He claims to disagree with President Bush on every single domestic policy. But he understands that Bush is the man to discharge the President's primary responsibility - he will protect American lives.

Think back to January 1, 2002. We had just been attacked by terrorists not more than four months before. Every expert predicted, and every American felt sure that it was coming again. "We'll never make it to 2003 without getting hit again." Why did we believe this?

Because we still remembered 9/11, and we understood the threat. Would you have believed that what we all feared was "inevitable" in the coming year never occurred?

The same doomsday predictions for 2003... and somehow, we remained safe.

Did the terrorists just abandon their hatred for us?

I doubt it.

In fact I suspect they hate us more than ever. We turned the tables on them; we destroyed their safe-havens. We put them on the run. Yeah, I bet they do hate us more than ever. And I bet they want to kill us more than ever.

Do I have some naive belief that America is immune from attack? No. In fact I think as Election Day draws nearer, the likelihood of attack only increases. But I'm not blind to the fact that America has not been attacked in the 2 years and 7 months since three thousand of our brothers and sisters were murdered. Who dared to imagine that?

But we must not let the successful defense of our country lull us into the belief that they don't want to kill every last one of us.

Find the video. See what they can do with one knife.

Imagine what they can do with a button...
